The BBC’s Broadcast services are at the heart of communities across the UK; telling stories that matter to people, on TV, radio, online and via our wider digital services. Through this apprenticeship opportunity, you could be part of the next generation of highly skilled Technical Operators.
Working alongside our journalists and programme makers are a dedicated team of operators who make sure the broadcast equipment and technology side of our business run smoothly. This Apprenticeship is an exciting entry level opportunity to join the BBC in towns and cities across the country; working at the front end of technical operating in sound and/ or vision in the newsroom ingest hubs, galleries, studios, post production areas, and out on location.

We are also offering one place working with our Post Production Archives team in London. Archives Technology & Services transforms and digitises media to preserve vital BBC legacy content. You will be making archive content available on digital platforms through the creation, quality assurance and delivery of files from film, video and audio assets.
Role Responsibility
You will gain the following skills via a combination of practical, classroom and on line learning at University, and via on the job ‘learning by doing’ at your BBC base, supplemented by first class training at the BBC training site.
On successfully completing this level 4 apprenticeship, you may wish to progress your career-path into the following specialisms:
TV Vision Mixing Radio Sound Operations Technical Directing Sound & Vision Editing Shoot/ Edit Multi-skilled Operator Ingest and Library functions

You don’t need to have previous work experience, however we would love to see examples of transferable practical skills through extra-curricular activities and volunteering.

Package description
A starting salary of £19,500 and potential pay increases (plus £4,918 London & Jersey Weighting for those individuals who have London or Jersey as their primary work base) A flexible 35-hour working week, 26 days of annual leave days (with the option to buy an extra 5 days), and a defined pension scheme.
