IT Systems Engineer

North London – Hybrid Working

Permanent opportunity offering £33 – £35K PA

We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our technology team at an established College. In this role, you will help manage, maintain, and support our organisation’s IT infrastructure and systems across multiple college sites.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and administer servers running various operating systems like Windows, Linux, and MacOS. Perform regular patch management.
• Assist with wired and wireless network infrastructure, network services, voice systems.
• Create and deploy system images for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
• Provide help desk support – diagnose and resolve end user technical issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation like manuals, diagrams, and SOPs.
• Monitor overall system health, availability and performance.
• Manage data backups and assist with disaster recovery planning.
• Work on special IT projects as required.
• Ensure adherence to agreed SLAs and operational readiness of systems.

Requirements:

• Experience with Cisco networking, VMware, Active Directory, Office 365, Windows, Linux.
• Knowledge of ITIL service delivery, MacOS, Creative Cloud, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams is desirable.
• 3+ years of systems administration experience in a similar IT role.
• Excellent technical knowledge of networking, servers, client systems, applications.
• Strong problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Ability to independently prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
