My client, a leading Life Insurer, are looking for a Service and Transition Manager who, following their extensive global expansion, will join the Division Centres Data Management and Operations team and take responsibility for all elements of the service design and transition processes.

You will provide thought leadership, staff and supplier management, guidance and support to business and technology leaders and identify opportunities across IT and the wider Technology function to drive operational and service excellence.

This is a combined leadership and hands-on practitioner role, so a successful multi-year background in ‘hands-on’ service design and transition is a must, as well as experience of continuing to build a successful service design and transition practice.

Main Duties

• The Service Design & Transition Manager will continue to build the service design and transition practice
• Responsible for the design of support for new (or materially changed) technology services, and for managing the introduction of any new system into production on behalf of technology.
• Working in partnership with projects and programmes to capture and implement service support requirements.
• Work with support teams across tech and the business to devise and assure go-live readiness and service acceptance criteria and delivery.
• Enable the smooth transition of new services into live running, ensuring successful knowledge transfer, operational oversight of non-functional testing.

Required skills/experience:

• Several years’ experience as a Service Design & Transition Manager in multi-region/multi-timezone context.
• Within the context of the role, a broad technical knowledge of infrastructure components like operating systems, databases, Middleware, storage, network devices, hypervisors
• Extensive experience of process mapping and process mapping tools
• Experience with reporting tools and ability to generate reports
• Experience of constructing service level agreements, service design packages.
• Experience of developing transition plans and leading transitions to meet plan timescales
• Experience of on-premise and cloud computing infrastructure and applications
• Good communicator, able to work with global teams
• A continual improvement mindset and high levels of customer focus.
• Experience of working with internal and external partners to drive service excellence.
