Reports to: Evaluation and Learning Manager Location: Flexible, within England (with some travel, particularly to Bristol or London required) Salary: £33,037 Based on WA salary scale point 35. (Plus Inner London Weighting of £3,483.94 where applicable) Length of contract: 37 hours per week, permanent MAIN PURPOSE OF POST Responsible for developments to the Women’s Aid’s national On Track programme to meet the needs of organisations using On Track. Leading on analysis of the On Track national dataset, producing key publications and presenting data to Women’s Aid teams and external stakeholders. To support Women’s Aid’s member services to evidence the impact of their work. On Track is a case management and outcomes monitoring system designed to empower local domestic abuse services to collect robust evidence as part of their work. Using On Track, services can also contribute to a secure, anonymous national data-set, providing valuable evidence on the needs and experiences of survivors across the country. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES National data To promote, develop and analyse On Track’s national data to ensure it provides a robust evidence based to inform policy and practice. To ensure On Track national data is aligned with other Women’s Aid research projects (and vice versa). To promote the use of On Track national data across Women’s Aid. To ensure On Track data is used accurately and consistently. Development of On Track To work on the development of On Track to ensure it continues to meet members’, funders’ and commissioners’ needs in evidencing impact whilst also providing a robust set of national data to inform policy and practice. To identify areas for development in response to emerging trends, new academic findings, member services’ needs and policy changes. Promoting On Track and supporting organisations who use On Track To monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of On Track to funders and for the wider Women’s Aid team. To promote On Track with key stakeholder groups including members, funders, commissioners, and academics and develop guidance, protocols and model documents to support its delivery. To coordinate and respond to enquiries from members, commissioners, funders and other stakeholders about On Track. To ensure member services are consulted and informed about new areas of work within On Track. General responsibilities To maintain clear and adequate records of work done and to produce reports on work programmes and activities as required by management. To contribute to team meetings (including On Track team meetings as well as wider team meetings) and organisational priorities, and to participate in supervision and other line management meetings. To take direction on projects and priorities from your line manager, which may vary from time to time. To carry out administrative tasks necessary to comply with the job description. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Senior Research and Evaluation Officer (On Track) EXPERIENCE Essential: Experience of quantitative data collection. Experience of analysing large quantitative datasets. Experience of using/managing online and/or electronic information and data collection systems. Experience of collecting, managing and disseminating information in an accessible way for a variety of audiences and to facilitate learning. Experience of using or supporting others to use case management systems’ Experience of a variety of computer packages including databases, with extensive experience of Microsoft Office software. Desirable: Previous experience of working in the voluntary sector, and/or violence against women and girls service setting. Experience of working with academics, commissioners and / or policy-makers. Experience of designing and using impact and evaluation measurement tools and resources. Experience of line management. SKILLS & ABILITIES Essential: Ability to use Excel, SPSS, Tableu or any other equivalent software package to analyse data. Ability to analyse large sets of information and identify key findings Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting specialist topics to non-specialist audiences. Good IT skills, including for data analysis, preferably in a Windows based environment. Ability to work on own initiative: initiate, plan and prioritise work, work to tight deadlines and respond to urgent unplanned demands. Ability to develop and nurture relationships with key contacts and organisations. Desirable: Strong monitoring and evaluation skills. KNOWLEDGE Essential: Knowledge and understanding of how organisations can collect, analyse and use impact and outcomes data and the range of methods and tools that can be used. Understanding of and sensitivity to the issues relating to domestic abuse, including the nature of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children and the intersectional barriers they face. Desirable: Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality issues in relation to databases and case management systems. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Essential: Able to demonstrate a commitment to, and understanding of, the aims and objectives of Women’s Aid. A non-judgmental approach to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and an understanding of the gendered nature of violence against women and girl Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and work occasional weekends and evenings as required SUMMARY OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Terms of appointment: Confirmation of appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. This will normally be of six months (less for short term contracts). During this time an employee will be expected to establish their suitability for the post. During the probationary period employment may be terminated in writing, giving one week’s notice by either party (this may be waived by mutual agreement). Only any statutory dismissal procedure will apply during the probationary period. There is no probationary period for contracts of under 3 months. Salary: £33,037 (plus Inner London Weighting of £3,483.94, on an incremental scale guided by WA pay scale points 35-39) + benefits. Salary is paid in arrears through bank credit by the 25th of each month. Part time staff receive pro-rata payment based on hours worked. Working hours: The standard working hours for this post are 37 hours per week, based remotely or in London; benefits include a generous bank holidays and annual leave package and contributory pension scheme. Support and supervision: Women’s Aid has a commitment to providing regular supervision and support to staff with annual appraisals forming a key part of staff development. We have a training policy in place and encourage staff to take an active role in their career development plan. Pension: Women’s Aid is enrolled with the People’s Pension scheme. Women’s Aid normally contributes 7% of salary and the employee contributes 3% towards the group pension scheme. Eligible staff will be automatically enrolled on the scheme when they have successfully completed the 3 month interim probationary review Annual Leave: Women’s Aid offers an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year rising by one day per year until 30 days annual leave per year is reached. In addition, we offer 8 days public holidays plus 2 additional days in March and August. All leave entitlement is calculated pro-rata for part time employees. Other leave: Employees have contractual rights to time off for reasons of sickness, maternity and other circumstances. Period of notice: 2 months after your probationary period has been completed.
