Introduction

Bumble is seeking an expert C/Go Engineer to help in the ongoing development and support of our large-scale Internal Developer Platform. This role will be focused on some of the most critical pieces of our platform on which everything else relies. Almost every developer in our company will use the results of your work, so we pay special attention to the performance, reliability and usefulness of our system.

What you’ll do

• Participate in a creation of our Internal Developer Platform, including things like
• Writing user-friendly and machine-friendly tools for deployment to cloud and on-prem datacenters using contemporary technologies like k8s, ArgoCD, Vault, etc
• Support our critical C/C++ based software, including PHP interpreter and its extensions
• Take part in DBaaS system development and lot more
• Optimise backend code, look for bottlenecks and, as and when necessary, implement visualisation and monitoring systems
• Suggest and implement high-tech, innovative solutions
• Proactively communicate with colleagues to refine application design
• Actively participate in the whole process of development, from initial design to deployment and support
• Write backend code, client libraries for your systems for various languages and configure contemporary open source software stack.

About you

• Proven backend development experience
• Computer Science/Tech related degree is highly desirable
• C/C++ and Go language proficiency
• Experience in JVM languages is a bonus, especially Kotlin
• Experience in PHP language is a bonus
• Words like caching, sharding, replication, reliability are familiar to you or you should be able to learn them quickly
• Strong will to learn new stuff
• Knowledge of nix console environment
• Understanding how to optimise and fine-tune backend application that uses MySQL or other external data sources
• Experience in relational databases and SQL, preferably MySQL
