We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require a PostgreSQL DBA to join them on a major government project that’s based remotely.
Job Description:
The PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the organization’s PostgreSQL databases. This role involves managing database systems, ensuring data availability, implementing security measures, and providing support for database-related issues. The DBA will collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
The role holder:
Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems.
Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage database backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user roles and permissions.
Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data within the database.
Support: Provide support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and apply patches to ensure the database is up-to-date.
Collaboration: Work with development teams to design and optimize database schema, queries, and indexing strategies.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.
Automation: Develop scripts to automate routine database tasks and improve efficiency.
