An opportunity has arisen to join Eurostar as its Railway Infrastructure Engineer.

You will be responsible and support and manage a large range of building services, train servicing equipment and depot infrastructure equipment at Temple Mills Depot, for Fleet availability and Production. This requires a flexible approach such as a large range of engineering disciplines are required and you will also be supported by the IEM – electrical (LV and HV), mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, vacuum, cranes, fixed and mobile plant, PLCs, BEMS, UPS, etc. You will report directly into the Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

This position is based at our Engineering Centre in Leyton.

Internal use only: Grade D, Travel Level 2, based in TMI.

Safety

• Observance with Company-wide and specific site safety policies and procedures.
• Endorse and support work safety in the engineering environment as an essential work practice for your own wellbeing as well as the well-being of others.
• Understand the appropriate statutory regulations as well as the safety rules that apply for each engineering subject.
• Conduct periodic safety inspections within work applicable areas and initiate work requests, and/or take suitable corrective action in appropriate time frames.
• Promptly investigate hazards and accidents and then correct safety deficiencies.
• Make sure the maintenance, inspection and testing of safety processes and systems is compliant and maintain records and certificates.

Delivery

• Implement procedures and processes that will ensure that the departments responsibilities and plans of work for repair and maintenance and safety of assets are met and provided to approved legislative and quality standards.
• Provide tangible engineering outputs, such as: project and/or work plans, maintenance and operation papers, work or job task permits, asset descriptions and coding.
• Monitor maintenance tasks, project progress, and maintenance regimes through production of visible time-spent reporting.
• Perform KPI’s of major plant/systems.
• Incorporate energy management, conservation, and sustainability as a part of every-day life at TMD.
• Support environmental purposes and objectives in the repair and maintenance of site assets.
• Investigate, propose, and manage improvements to plant and systems to continually increase availability, reliability and efficiencies. Manage and deliver renewals and upgrades.
• Required to communicate at all levels of the organization.
• To carry out any reasonable request to enable the Infrastructure Department to meet its commitment in supporting the service to the train and in managing its facilities / buildings.

• Ensure standard systems and processes are in place and understood to help workers complete routine tasks successfully day after day.
• Provide expert advice, technical support, and training to the Plant Team (will be trained).
• Provide cover for the IEM.

You’ll need

Essential

• Minimum of HNC with a bias towards an electrical discipline.
• Associate or Technician Member of an engineering professional institution (CIBSE, or IET).
• Knowledge of BS:7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations, Health and safety legislation including the Electricity at Work Act.
• Computer Literate, good grasp of Excel and Word.
• Keep pace with engineering innovations or technical advances, engaging others, absorbing information, introducing and applying where practicable.

Desirable

• An engineering Degree or studying to attain a degree.
• Member of an engineering professional institution or working towards membership status.
• Railway legislation and standards
• AutoCAD, and asset management software
• Depot track Safety, or Personal track Safety.
• Knowledge of Eurostar Rolling Stock Procedures
