This is a great opportunity to support the work of colleagues across the charity through delivering national, regional and trade media coverage. The role will lead and coordinate media interest in the charity and our work, ensuring regular contact with target media and ensure fast response to all media requests.
You will take ownership of the execution of issue-led media campaigns, raising awareness of disability and relevant health issues and promoting Muscular Dystrophy UK s lobbying, fundraising and influencing work.
The successful candidate should have:
Experience working in a busy national press office, preferably in the third sector, or as a journalist
Proven success in securing national and regional media coverage, across print, broadcast and online, on an issues based subject
Experience of working with case studies of vulnerable people and preparing them for use in the media
Expectations in the role
To maintain and develop the organisation s key messaging from the whole charity, ensuring up-to-date facts and positions are available for sharing with journalists and external audiences
Work with the team members in the charity s key functions – Campaigns, Care and Support, Research and Fundraising – to secure consistent national and regional media coverage for the charity s campaigns and policy work
Launch and deliver press for the national and regional campaigns produced by the Campaigns and Outreach teams, including parliamentary activity in all four UK nations, on health and care issues affecting our supporters

Location:
This role is based from our office in Southwark, London with a great deal of flexibility for home working.
