Role: Marketing & PR Manager Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Hours: Full Time (negotiable) Salary: £31,000 to £33,000 per annum (depending on experience) The Role: The Marketing & PR Manager plays a vital role in maximising David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s (DSWF’s) impact on conservation, wildlife art and environmental education. The role will drive promotion of DSWF’s conservation, fundraising and educational activities to external audiences by implementing a strategic marketing and communications plan that will promote DSWF’s work. The main goal will be to ensure greater brand visibility and engagement, in order to attract new supporters and donors and retain existing ones. This will be accomplished through strong PR, marketing and media partnerships with external agencies, as well as collaboration with internal DSWF stakeholders. The role will work alongside the Content Marketing & Communications Manager to develop innovative, creative and engaging solutions to increase the exposure of DSWF in an ever-changing and competitive landscape, driving both income and awareness for conservation, education and wildlife art. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Marketing You will work with the Content Marketing & Communications Manager to develop and implement an overall strategic marketing plan for the entire organisation, taking into account DSWF’s three strategic pillar’s Conservation, Education & Art. The main goals of the strategy will focus on income generation, brand awareness and supporter and donor acquisition and retention. In conjunction with the COO, you will establish key performance indicators across each strategic goal – income generation, brand awareness and supporter and donor acquisition and retention – in order to be able to analyse performance across all channels and further refine strategy and tactics. You will identify DSWF’s existing and target audiences to create donor and supporter personas, and then work with the Content Marketing & Communications Manager as well as other key stakeholders to develop an annual marketing calendar for all marketing channels (including social, email, website, print, events etc.) to ensure DSWF’s three strategic pillars of conservation, art and education are all reflected strongly. You will manage key media relationships with relevant print and digital titles in the conservation, education and art space. You will be responsible for the marketing and promotional plans and implementation around our key events and activities throughout the year. PR You will identify key events and activities in the DSWF annual calendar relating to Conservation, Fundraising, Art and Education that present opportunities for DSWF to earn media coverage. Depending on size of activity and allocated budget, you will either enlist the support of a PR agency to work with, or create an in house PR campaign to promote the above identified events and activities across channels such as print media, social media, radio, television, websites and podcasts. You will review the success and reach of all PR campaigns and manage any agency relationships and performance accordingly. You will work with the Communications, Marketing & Fundraising teams to identify and onboard a new group of DSWF celebrity ambassadors and influencers who align to the brand and who can bring a spotlight to the work of DSWF through social media and attendance at events. Website You will work with our website and digital marketing agency to manage the monthly Pay Per Click retainers, and monitor performance and feedback. You will be responsible for working with our website and digital marketing agency to improve user experience and journeys online, and to optimise conversion rates. In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising, you will develop an automated email welcome journey to steward new online website donors and visitors to ensure frequent contact and engagement, and to create segmentation around interests and preferences. You will work in close collaboration with all members of the DSWF team to regularly review the DSWF website content, performance and experience and identify areas for improvement to feed back to our website developers and communication team. Budget Management and Reporting You will work with the CFO on the setting and management of the annual marketing and PR expenditure budget. You will use insights and analytics to produce top level marketing and PR reports for the Senior Management Team and Trustees to demonstrate performance of campaigns and activities across all channels against the agreed performance metrics. You will write timely and accurate Marketing and PR Reports for submission to the Board of Trustees (c. three per annum). Candidate Requirements The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing innovative marketing and PR strategies. Excellent marketing, PR and communications skills in relation to identifying existing and target audience personas and identifying the key channels to engage with these audiences to achieve greater awareness and engagement. Strong organisational and inter-personal skills to be able to to work productively in a dynamic and busy environment are essential to be a success in the role. Proficiency in the use of marketing software, especially Adobe Suite, is desired but not essential. An interest in conservation and endangered wildlife will help increase the enjoyment and fulfilment from this role, but prior experience in this area is not required. Holiday: 25 days per annum. Bank Holidays also provided, and an additional holiday entitlement will be given at DSWF’s discretion around Christmas and New Year. Location: Hybrid working between the DSWF Shalford Office, Home and occasionally London.
