Where does this role sit?
The Customer Data Services (CDS) Lab looks after the customer data for the whole of Lloyds Banking Group. Our mission is to make this data available for the right purpose with the appropriate confidentiality and always ensuring a phenomenal engineering experience, performance, resilience, and integrity.
The systems we support, underpin almost everything we do. We maintain these systems with the highest standard, with an ambition to take ownership of the operational support 24/7 using SRE principles.
As a Mainframe Software EngineerYou’ll work on production systems, producing quality application code, collaborating with team members, whilst having the support of more senior engineers. There will be opportunities to work on your own initiatives, making a significant impact on projects, whilst being able to build your own skills.
You’ll get exposure to working with agile methodologies, delivering projects iteratively and contributing to the success of the team.
What we’re looking for:
Hands on IBM Mainframe Software Engineering background with practical knowledge of COBOL, CICS, DB2 and experience working on critical production systems.
An awareness of modern DevOps tooling (we use GIT, Jenkins, UCD, Compuware Topaz, VS Code)
A growth mindset
A keen curiosity about modernization and learning other languages (we plan to explore Java / Python / Golang)
A familiarity with Agile principles
