Description

There are a lot of challenges – but a lot of opportunities to think and act creatively, too.

As a Lead Back End you’ll be building and maintaining robust GraphQL APIs and providing clients with multiple data-rich views into operational risk management. You will be leading the discussions regarding technical architecture and will line manage our Back End team of 3. You will play a key role in growing this team inline with requirements.

You’ll need to decide between extending existing functionality or breaking things out into more re-usable patterns, whilst being mindful about consistency, reusability, and looking for ways to make developers lives easier.

As part of the role, you will be involved in the full Agile life cycle including feasibility of features, discussing how to implement them, and providing constructive feedback in our regular retrospectives.

Our tech stack is one of the best around. You’ll be using Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL (with Apollo Federation), Azure Serverless and of course, Git!

When it comes to hardware, you’ll be given the choice of a MacBook or Windows laptop, along with anything you need for a comfortable and productive remote working environment.

Requirements

Here is a summary of the skill set that we’re looking for:

• Experience building applications using TypeScript, Node and GraphQL. We are open to any language background, however you need to have experience on at least one complex TypeScript application.
• Experience managing a team of Engineers
• Knowledge and understanding of technical architecture and ability to contribute to discussions on overall direction of development.
• Experience working with complex data structures. At My Client you will be helping to solve tricky data problems and it’s important for you to share our enthusiasm in tackling them.
• Experience writing effective unit tests. You understand the value of unit tests and how they contribute to a robust and reliable codebase.
• Experience with SQL databases essential
• A motivation to continuously work towards a higher standard of code.

• Effective communication skills. You contribute to discussions and convey ideas in an accessible manner.
