Salary: £85,208-£106,510 per annum

About the role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate to join us as a Lead Full Stack Engineer working across a small number of cross-disciplinary feature teams providing engineering leadership that spans the full stack in support of our continued journey onto Public Cloud (Azure/GCP). You will be passionate about designing and delivering scalable applications and have tangible views on how to best exploit public cloud capabilities. This role will be pivotal in transforming legacy systems into cloud native distributed applications.

As a senior member of our wider Engineering team, we expect that you to demonstrate and apply exemplary software engineering practices and skills in addition to mentoring our more junior team members.

This is a key time in our journey, and we’re seeking people who enjoy the opportunity to shape the direction and success of a team and lead on delivering some initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Writing modular, well tested web applications that remain easy to maintain as the codebase and business continues to scale.

• Ensuring software is built in a way which is consistent with – and exploits where possible – the collective frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider Engineering community.

• Understand and apply industry best practices, foster knowledge sharing to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist and ensure implementation of solutions where appropriate.

• Relentless focus on delivering business value through sound engineering methods and principles.

About you:

As such, we encourage applications from different backgrounds, however, to secure an interview for this role, you would need to have experience of and demonstrate the below as a minimum:

Technical

• Demonstrate full stack engineering expertise including strong experience in Java and JavaScript (React / Angular) and NodeJS.

• Strong experience of microservice frameworks such as Springboot

• Strong experience of micro-front end and micro-service API design, event driven architecture

And RESTful APIs and web services

• Experience of working with Docker or other containerisation technologies

• Knowledge of agile development practices and test automation (Unit/Integration/E2E testing – Jest/Testing Library/Cucumber/Cypress).

• Experience with build processes and release automation (Azure/GCP Pipelines, Nexus).

Behavioural

• A “can-do” attitude, capability of bootstrapping projects and ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal, and external distributed teams across the project lifecycle.

• Display a DevOps mindset and ability to use tools like Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform

• Confidence to express own opinions and be pragmatic about modifying them when appropriate.
