IT Lead Search Engineer I Full Time

WHAT YOU’LL DOWe are seeking a Search Engineer, to play an important role in improving findability and user satisfaction, to make BCG s proprietary information easier to find and consume by consulting case teams. This position is part of a Knowledge and Design Tribe and its initiative to build a leading-edge knowledge management and collaboration platform.This role will help analyze, configure, enhance, and maintain search. This role will also look into relevance tuning efforts and work closely with the other search engineers, business analyst, product management, data science, user experience, and engineering teams to improve search result relevance based on various signals ( , clickstream analytics, user feedback) and training sets ( , reference corpus of search examples).WHAT YOU LL DO

• Implement custom as well as out of box solutions related to search engine and relevancy.
  • Relevancy review and field boosting
  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing a suite of tools that evaluate the influence of search engine enhancements on relevance.
  • Identifying use cases in which relevance under performs.
  • Interact with user/user groups to understand issues and enhance search satisfaction.
  • Work on search enhancements and implementation using CI/CD pipeline on AWS cloud.
  • Implement plugins and custom pipeline for Search time customizations
  • Work with Data Science team to analysis and relevancy related implementations
• Work with QA team and provide guidance on testing
• Collaborate with product team to design solutions and assist with special projects.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and work closely with our product owner, scrum master, and analysts to prioritize work to be delivered each sprint.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues and bugs which cannot be resolved by L2 support team.
• Contribute to troubleshooting, training, documentation, and support activities

• Maintain documentation of system functionality and operational workflows

• Fundamental search engine concepts (For example: Crawling, Indexing, document processing, faceted refinement, relevancy boosting concepts like TF-IDF bag-of-words document models and inverted indexes).
• Relevance evaluation using test collections and metrics such as precision and recall.
• Relevance evaluation in production environments using clickstream metrics such as click-through and conversation rates
• Good steward of the platform and look out for long term health and sustainability of the system
• Create high-quality technical documentation
• Good analytical skills and ability to execute data driven analysis.
• Ability to adhere to enterprise level design architecture guidelines.
• Attention to detail, well organized, and able to set priorities and take decisions
• Working well independently as well as part of a team bringing a sense of urgency to the tasks at hand
• Interpreting rules and guidelines flexibly to enhance the business and aligning with BCG s values and culture
• Exhibits ownership and accountability for the tasks assigned.
• Being flexible to be available outside of normal business hours for international calls as needed. Work from home options are available, with hybrid working mode

Automated Testing

• General principles of automated software testing
• Application of A/B testing techniques to evaluate changes and predict production level performance

Computer Science

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, systems level programming, REST services, databases, and distributed message brokers
• Experience with software engineering best practices including Agile methodologies, source control, and release management
• Experience with the following a plus:
  • Amazon AWS environments and services
  • Data science, machine learning, and NLP
  • Storage/retrieval of data to/from SQL server/snowflake in Python/C#

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

• 4+ years experience working on search products
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience with one or multiple search engines ( : Sinequa, Elastic Search, Solr, Coveo, Attivio, LucidWorks, Amazon Cloud Search, Google Cloud Search, SharePoint search)
• Expertise in agile principles and ways of working
• Experience working with JIRA or similar tool preferred
• Relevance tuning experience is a plus
• Good to have Sinequa certifications
• Good to have proficiency with C#, , Python, JSON, API integrations, reporting, dashboards.
• Good to have experience with integrations, REST, SOAP
