The role

We are seeking a highly skilled cloud integration solution architect with experience in Java Software development, integration layer design, synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, IBM MQ, Kafka, Kafka Connect, low latency, and AWS services. The ideal candidate will have a combination of cloud solution architecture skills and experience in migration/integration from on-premise solutions into cloud solutions.

You will define and own architectural designs for the platform’s integration layer and ensure that development is undertaken in line with the architectural design. Working closely with the internal customer integration team, architecture team, and engineering teams, you will be the subject matter expert for the designed solution with the engineering team, ensuring best practice integration architecture is implemented in order to meet functional and non-functional needs.

What you’ll do

Key responsibilities in this role will include (but not be limited to):

• Lead the design and development of high-performance, scalable, and reliable cloud-based integration to our customers and capabilities.
• Working with the Product Owner to translate business requirements into architectural documents covering high-level architecture with runtime/building block/development views, constraints, scope, solution strategy, architectural decision, and non-NFRs.
• Working with our chosen Delivery Partner, internal Security architects, and Platform team on detailed solution design and technical requirements which feeds into the Low-Level design
• Work with the Head of Architecture to define and provide architectural guidelines
• Present technical designs for approval via the Design Authority forum
• Provide recommendations on how Solution Architecture and Design should be set up internally going forwards
• Collaborate with cross-functionality teams and across capabilities to understand business requirements E2E and develop solutions that meet those requirements.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Establish, communicate and advocate best practice and design patterns

What you’ll need

• 5-7 years of relevant experience as an AWS solution and data architect.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role with demonstrable experience in cloud-based, low-latency, and event-driven application/integration layer development.
• Good knowledge of software development and event-driven design applying SOLID software architecture design pattern eg DDD and ES.
• Hands-on experience in using Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, AWS services eg S3, Lambda, KMS, MSK, glue catalogue for schema registry, Transfer Family, SQS, SNS, Event Bridge, Step Function and Cloud agnostic services eg HashiCorp Vault and Consul
• Experience in architecting for and deploying to public cloud services, especially to Kubernetes environments eg EKS, consul, and vault.
• Experience working in the Financial Services sector is a large plus
• Experience in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and IBM MQ is beneficial.
• Understanding of cloud security concepts and technologies
• Comfortable in using different Linux environments eg Redhat
• Fluent in written and spoken business English
• Experience of working in Agile/Scrum with virtual teams
• Experience in DevOps, scrum/agile methodologies and using CI/CD tools such as Github, and Terraform.
