Role: Senior Full Stack Engineer (tech agnostic)
Location: Office in Central London (this company is mature about remote/flexible working, people visit anything from 1-2 times per month to 2 days per week)
Reporting into: Engineering Manager
Salary: circa £70-80k (flex) + share options
Benefits: Share options, 27 days annual leave (increases each year of service to 30 days), private medical insurance, dental cover, discounted gym membership, life cover, cycle to work and more!
About the company:
An innovation scale-up that generated over £400 million in revenue last year (on track for double by end of this financial year). They are revolutionizing the finance/insurance space, being the first to fully digitally disrupt their industry. As such, they are expanding rapidly and their priority is to bring on more bright technologists to join their team. Code quality, efficiency, and testing are extremely important to this business (they follow SOLID, DRY and ER principles).
Team size and structure:
There are circa 100 people in the company in total, over half of these are technologists. They follow Agile, however they are a growing start-up so you need to clear-eyed that they’re still finding their feet when it comes to best practice/process which change as they constantly look for improvements. Teams are organised as cross-functional squads, (Algo Engineers, Full Stack Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Designers) with a Principal as the most senior technical authority and the Engineering Manager as the people lead.
About the role:
Last year, this company expanded the breadth of their verticals nicely, so now each product team is focussed on deepening the capabilities within each of these verticals. This includes expanding the performance and capabilities of the algorithms they’ve created plus building new customer-facing web applications. You will experiment with new technologies to create a solution for complex ML problems. They’re very open to introducing new languages to their stack, so this role would suit you if you enjoy experimenting with new tech and working in a data-driven/ML environment.
About you:
You genuinely enjoy discovering new languages, evaluating their pros and cons to determine how they can be implemented most effectively. You do not shy away from learning new tools/languages on the job, even if you don’t have any prior experience, and then share this knowledge with your colleagues (perhaps you even contribute to technical blogs, meetups, conferences etc). You are comfortable working in a rapidly growing start-up environment and are comfortable with ambiguity. This company is revolutionising their industry, which inevitably means that sometimes they try new things that fail – when this happens to you, you’re able to bounce back and start afresh relishing the challenge!
Tech stack: Python, Kotlin, C#, React, TypeScript, Postgres, GCP, Terraform, IaC, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, Tekton. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked with these! We’re looking for tech agnostics who are open to learning new things.
