Engineering Manager – Modern Workplace & Virtualisation

• Salary Range: £80 to £90k
• Job Type: Permanent
• Office Location: Central London
• Hybrid Model : 3 days per week in office, remaining days remote

About the Role

My client, a major insurance organisation are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to take leadership throughout a variety of responsibilities and add technical expertise for a landscape of on-prem and virtual technology.

Responsibilities:

• Line management of the IT Services Modern Workplace, EUC & Virtualisation engineers
• Translate requirements and architecture into work packages.
• Manage infrastructure policies and standards, including effective capacity planning
• Review and approve infrastructure designs including designing complex solutions on occasion
• Collaborate with Group Procurement and Vendor Management teams on renewals and partner relationships

Candidate Requirements:

• 5+ years in a similar role (ideally in an insurance environment)
• In-Depth knowledge of server and storage infrastructure and virtual desktop infrastructure (persistent and non-persistent desktops), application delivery and laptop estates ensuring estate is operationally fit for purpose with security, performance & resiliency.
• Strong knowledge of technical design/architecture
• Experie nce in reviewing and approving infrastructure designs including designing complex solutions on occasion
• Strong ability to handle a number of technologies, processes and changes
• Outstanding skills in documentation
