Who are Lloyds Banking Group?
Lloyds Banking Group is the UK’s leading digital franchise, with over 20 million active online customers across our three main brands – including Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland – as well as the biggest mobile bank in the country. We’re building the bank of the future, and we need your help.
Where will this role sit?
Data Content Services (DCS) Lab is responsible for organising the bank’s data. We do this by ingesting data from many source systems, joining the data, organising, and cataloguing it so that the data can be discovered, understood, trusted, and re-used for a multitude of business purposes.
About the role
As Engineering Lead of the lab, you’ll lead a large and diverse engineering team of 150+ colleagues who are building the pipelines, patterns and frameworks that enable data to be efficiently and effectively processed at scale.
Technologies in use within the Lab are Hadoop and native Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with increasing focus for delivering the Group’s data and analytics products and services on GCP. It’s a great time to join the team as we build momentum on our public cloud journey!
What you’ll do
Work hand-in-hand with your Product Owner counterpart in a ‘two-in-a-box’ model to jointly lead the Lab team providing a great value proposition to your stakeholders from across the company.
Lead a multi-disciplinary team who build, deploy and maintain big data applications that deliver high-quality data, and end-to-end metadata management solutions
Set the strategic direction and roadmap for the Lab, ensuring software is built consistently using relevant patterns and these patterns and practices are propagated across the wider community
Ensure all Engineering work in the Lab is carried out in line with the Bank standards and that teams are aware of, make decisions within and assist in the implementation and operation of the security, cyber, risk and control management framework
Be part of the broader DML engineering leadership team driving and supporting initiatives outside the core Lab and Platform as part of the leadership and engineering community
Hire and grow engineering talent as well as coaching and mentoring colleagues to enable them to reach their full potential
