PURPOSE The purpose of this role is to recruit more individuals to the DKMS UK blood stem cell register by working with patients and their families to generate successful appeals, and working with wider community groups, universities, volunteers and partners to ensure the register is reflective of the diversity in the UK. As part of this objective, you will also manage a portfolio of donor recruitment events and appeals, providing administrative and logistical support alongside event promotion, training and education to better support patients in their journey to finding a donor match. Communications and Engagement Department This department ensures that the DKMS brand and activities are recognised amongst the UK public, with the goal of raising awareness and motivating people to register as potential blood stem cell donors. The team also provides potential donors with regular, relevant communication to engage and motivate them over the long-term to be available and prepared if and when a stem cell donation is needed. Alongside this, the team supports other departments to promote their activities and initiatives Key internal and external relations Internal Senior Donor Recruitment Manager Donor Recruitment Officers/Team Head of Communications and Engagement Communications and Engagement Team – PR, Social Media Website and Brand and Marketing Fundraising Team Customer Service Team Donor Recruitment Managers in other DKMS entities External DKMS Volunteers DKMS Recruitment Partners Patients and Patient Families Donor Recruitment Initiator groups Community groups, local networks, corporate organisations KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, manage & deliver donor recruitment events, across the UK Patient management, including responding to initial enquiries, speaking to/meeting patients and their families to create engaging patient appeals, alongside supporting them throughout their journey with DKMS Work towards Donor Recruitment KPIs and targets, with both online and offline registrations Run training sessions to educate volunteers on the DKMS blood stem cell register eligibility criteria, registration process, donation methods etc in order for them to confidently and successfully run donor recruitment events on our behalf Help to manage the donor recruitment email inbox, responding to all enquires and questions within agreed SLAs To use the DKMS Database to log contacts, patients, event activity and track KPI performance. To attend and lead donor recruitment events – including regular travel within the UK, sometimes at weekends and/or into the evening Build and manage high quality working relationships with a variety of external stakeholder, some of whom will be vulnerable Represent the DR team in internal project/campaign groups, such as the Patient Campaign Team General To work with DKMS UK in-house marketing and PR teams and donor recruitment initiator groups to optimise any agreed marketing/PR opportunities regarding events and patient appeals Represent DKMS in public to inform external audiences about stem cell and bone marrow donation, including preparing and delivering presentations to individuals, community groups and other organisations to promote the work of DKMS UK. To help develop and improve a suite of donor recruitment assets and patient engagement materials to help provide groups and volunteers with tools to promote their events/raise awareness To contribute towards projects that focus on core target groups for donor recruitment, eg donors from minority ethnic backgrounds To work towards donor recruitment fundraising targets by actively encouraging money donations and/or fundraising alongside events To support and provide cover for DR colleagues in their Donor Recruitment activities where needed, eg, attending/managing an event they are unable to attend. To meet with the Senior Donor Recruitment Manager for the purpose of regular supervision and appraisal. To participate in staff training, organisation/team meetings and events, as required. To keep up-to-date with developments and learning in stem cell donor recruitment/registration and transplantation. Person Specification It is not expected that the successful candidate will necessarily have experience / competency in all the areas highlighted below. Support and training will be provided. Knowledge, experience and expertise Experience working in a client/customer facing role, dealing with a variety of external stakeholders Experience working in a support/admin role Experience of working with diverse audiences Desirable, but not essential: Experience in event planning Full UK Driving licence Skills and abilities Excellent IT and admin skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite and databases. Strong communication skills, including written, digital and presentation skills Empathetic and sensitive when working with people going through very difficult circumstances and/or grief.
