Overview of job

This Delivery Manager (Software Development) will be focused on the delivery of our Technology delivery roadmap. You will be responsible for handling significant initiatives within our product roadmap, working with Product, Engineering, Quality Assurance colleagues and key partners to shape and deliver projects in the Technology portfolio.

You will also build strong working relationships with delivery teams, creating, owning and driving forward delivery plans, leading dependencies and mitigating material risks. They will work closely alongside senior Product and Engineering colleagues to identify and resolve blockers and issues to ensure delivery is on time and on budget.

In the first few months, you would have:

• Understood the goals of the Technology team and how these support Global’s Technology strategy and objectives
• Gained a proven understanding of the workings of Global’s business
• Established strong working collaborations from across Technology and the Business; Commercial, Data, Infrastructure, Property, Digital, and beyond
• Understood inflight projects and the delivery roadmap for prioritised initiatives
• Found opportunities to support improvements to our delivery processes

Responsibilities of the role

• Planning and execution of product development initiatives/projects
• Identify and own resolution of delivery risks, issues and dependencies, escalating where appropriate
• Communicate plans and progress, celebrating success and learning from failures
• Lead the project transition into support to ensure acceptable training, knowledge transfer and operational readiness
• Champion best-in-class delivery processes, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

• Track record of successfully delivering high-profile Technology initiatives in a fast-paced environment, embracing appropriate delivery methods, scrum, Kanban, hybrid etc
• Diligent self-starter with the ability to summarise depending on audience
• Capable of keeping projects on track by discovering solutions to problems; highly organised with a positive attitude
• Strong communication and facilitation skills to bring teams together to provide direction, and maintain focus and momentum
• Equally comfortable working with business and technical teams; building strong relationships across Technology and with Business Partners
• Ability to gather and use insight to spot trends and identify dependencies to reduce delivery risk and optimise team performance
• Strong negotiation skills: able to prioritise, negotiate trade-offs and make recommendations
• Knows how and where to rely on gut instinct vs. making fact-based decisions to quickly remove blockers
• Adaptable in the face of changing demands and comfortable working with ambiguity; resilient
• Willingness to collaborate and coach; ability to motivate, educate and influence
