Data Science Analyst – Internal Audit

Hybrid working, 2 days per week onsite.

Up to £55,000 D.O.E

My financial services client is seeking a dedicated professional with a strong passion for data science and engineering to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will leverage data science and analytics techniques to support the delivery of our audit plan, offering valuable insights and fostering innovation within the Group Audit & Conduct Investigations (GA&CI) team. This hands-on position provides an opportunity to collaborate with a skilled and supportive central team of data analysts and scientists, gaining visibility among senior management and exposure to the entire Group.

You will:

• Collaborate with business audit teams to deliver advanced analytics, providing insights and independent assurance on control effectiveness.
• Champion innovation and upskill colleagues in data analytics to elevate the department’s performance.
• Establish relationships with business audit teams, facilitating the delivery of analytics and supporting colleagues in their analytical efforts.
• Promote the use of analytics through department-wide presentations, contributing to innovation within the wider Group’s data-driven initiatives.
• Contribute to data science and analytics development projects.
• Develop your knowledge of the Group’s strategy, products & markets, and take responsibility for your professional development.

Essential skills & experience:

• Experience delivering data analytics to support audits, or experience using data analytics in a non-audit role with a solid understanding of audit or risk.
• Experience of Internal Audit
• Ability to comprehend business processes, navigate ambiguity, and deliver impactful insights and assurance work.
• Knowledge of databases and data warehouse concepts, along with a grasp of core data analytics and visualisation principles.
• Proficiency in SQL and a good understanding of Python for work-related tasks.
• Ability and previous experience presenting technical topics and complex analyses to a non-technical audience.

It would be advantageous if you have financial services or risk experience and knowledge of PowerBI, Google Cloud, and concepts in data sciences, especially in machine learning and natural language processing.
