Data Analyst (R Programming) Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity for a data analyst with data engineering skills (Senior Associate grade) to work with our client’s Behavioural Economics and Retail & Ex-Post Evaluation teams

This role principally involves the engineering, processing, cleaning, and analysis of consumer credit and other retail financial product datasets, as well as opportunities to upskill in data science and/or stakeholder engagement.

The primary responsibilities of this job will be:

• The preparation, processing, cleaning, validation and transformation of large-scale anonymised datasets with UK consumers’ credit file information
• Matching this dataset with associated datasets on financial products
• Understanding the data and its context, applying a rigorous approach to data checks, validation, cleaning, and analysis
• Working closely with and communicating issues and findings with analysts in the Behavioural Economics and Retail & Ex-Post Evaluation teams
• Depending on the individual, there may be opportunities to develop data science and statistical skills to complement your existing expertise, as well as to present to non-technical stakeholders.

Skills/Experience Required

• Previous 4+ years of experience in an analytical role as an economist, data analyst or data engineer with analytical experience, or in similar role.
• 5+ years of applied experience in R
• Degree or significant professional experience in economic analysis, data science, or data engineering.

Essential

• The ability to get up to speed quickly with and understand new and complex datasets.
• Strong knowledge of efficient techniques for data cleaning, structuring data, merging datasets and data preparation for analysis.
• Experience matching (including fuzzy matching) data from several datasets
• Experience identifying data quality issues and coordinating with data owners to fix them.
• Ability to think analytically, and collaboratively work with other analysts on several projects at once and to communicate issues to them in a clear way.
• Experience using Git to collaborate with other analysts working simultaneously on the same project Desirable
• Experience working with Credit Reference Agency data
• Experience conducting analysis using large-scale transaction level or administrative datasets
