Prospectus is proud to be working with The Henry Smith Charity, one of the largest independent grant makers in the UK, in the search for their Communications Manager – Part Time. HSC is an independent grant making trust who aim to use their resources to help people and communities at a time of need, and bring about positive change. Founded in 1628 by Henry Smith, a businessman working in the City of London, the charity have honoured the spirit of his will, working to combat disadvantage, and meet the challenges facing people in need throughout the UK, distributing £39.8 million in 2021.Henry Smith Charity highly value the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion and this is central to their successes in grant making, helping individuals and communities to thrive. The Communications Manager will be the first point of contact for the media and will work with members across HSC including the Grants Operations, Learning and Evaluation, and the Senior Leadership teams to take oversight of external communications, producing content and managing communications to support the charity’s work. This is a newly created position and is offered on 3 or 4 days a week and on a hybrid work pattern. We are looking for a mission led candidate, confident to help with writing a new communications strategy, to implement the strategy through planning and delivering communications for the different HSC audiences and to write, edit, plan and publish content across various channels, including the website, social media, and print. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop a house style, ensuring consistent and efficient approaches are adopted. You will be working with colleagues to identify potential case studies/stories from among grant holders, providing engaging content to present across multiple channels. Organisation is key, maintaining the comms calendar and scheduling content for social media accounts.
